    Description

    Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 9721 .40-82 caliber, 26-inch octagonal barrel with brass blade front and buckhorn-style rear sights. Blued and case-hardened finish. Walnut stock with curved steel buttplate. Manufactured in the second year of production, 1887. Sold together with factory letter confirming the 1887 ship date.

    Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of blue in protected areas, the balance of the finish a smooth mottled plum-brown patina. Muted, mostly silvered case colors on frame, hammer and buttplate. Stock: Very good but with remnants of old varnish on buttstock. The wood is sound throughout with the exception of moderate dents between comb and upper tang. Scattered streaking and soiling. Bore is good showing some wear and scattered patches of fine pittng. Action crisp.
