Description
Whitney Burgess Morse Lever Action Repeater Rifle.Serial no. 1524, .45-70 caliber, 28-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued finish. Top of barrel marked: G.W. MORSE with patent date. Upper tang marked: A. BURGESS with patent date. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Crescent metal butt with cleaning rod reservoir.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina, with noticeable signs of handling wear, age and pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Large thumb sized dent to right side of stock. Cleaning rod absent. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
