Description
Rare Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle in .22 Short. Serial no. 555847B, .22 short caliber, 24 1/4-inch octagonal barrel with dovetailed brass blade front and sporting rear sights. Brass elevator marked .22 CAL/SHORT. Slightly figured walnut stock with curved steel buttplate. Condition: Good as possibly refinished. Retaining approximately 10-15% of what appears to be an older re-blued finish primarily in protected areas, the balance a mottled blue gray patina with scattered patches of fine frosting and pitting. Numerous scratches and dents. Magazine tube band pin absent. Rear sight a likely replacement. Dust cover retaining screw absent and showing heavy wear. Stock is good but with heavy soiling and scattered dents. Rear screw on lower tang a possible replacement. Bore is poor with heavy wear. Manufactured 1901.
