    Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Rifle with Leather Scabbard. Serial no. 6279, .40 caliber, 22-inch octagonal barrel with blade type front sight and dovetailed open rear sight. Case-hardened hammer, frame and lever. Varnished walnut stock and fore-end. Shotgun style butt. Contained in handsome basketweave hand-tooled leather scabbard with laced border and saddle straps.
    Condition: Good as configured. Barrel shortened. Metal showing grey patina with strong traces of blue in protected areas. Traces of silvered case-hardening remaining on frame and lever. Wood good with tiny linear hairline crack at wrist with minor wear and bruises overall. Action good. Scabbard with light wear and patina.
