    Inscribed Winchester Second Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine.
    Serial 17760, .44 rimfire, 20-inch barrel. Standard front sight and two-position folding ''V' notch sight. 20-inch magazine. Top of barrel marked: Henry's Patent Oct. 16 1860. / King's Patent March 1866. Blued finish. Brass frame with top inscribed: L. C. G. Saddle ring. Walnut fore-end. Crescent buttplate with cleaning rod reservoir. Four piece steel cleaning rod present. Lower left tang, stock and brass buttplate numbered to the gun. "C O" before serial number in lower left tang. Lower tang with "A" inspection mark. Inscription appears of the period, but has not been verified or authenticated. Manufactured in 1868.

    Condition: Fine for this model. Steel surfaces with a smooth gray patina with scattered spotting throughout. Brass frame is fine to excellent with light wear and staining. Brass buttplate with repair to reservoir cap, light wear, light spotting near top and possibly cleaned. Light dents and scratches to wood present. Lever and saddle ring with moderate wear and fine pitting. Bore is bright with light wear. Action good.
