Henry Second Model Lever Action Rifle. Serial no. 3440 (left side lower tang), .44 caliber, 24-inch barrel with German silver front sight and dovetailed rear sight. Top flat marked: Henry's Patent Oct.16 1860 / Manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. New Haven, Ct. Brass Frame. Walnut buttstock, brass buttplate numbered 12609. Cleaning rod reservoir.
Condition: Very good. Barrel showing a plum brown age patina with scattered patches of pitting. Slight traces of blue near barrel sling fitting. Brass frame with a mellow age patina with scattered areas of staining and blemishes. Lever and hammer with grey-brown patina and pitting. Wood with dents, marks and moderate scratches. Slight bent to reservoir cap. Marred screws. Bore ok. Action good.
