    Early Three-Digit Serial Numbered Burnside Fourth Model Breechloading Saddle Ring Carbine.
    Serial no. 667, .54 caliber, 21-inch round barrel with standard sights. "W" inspector stamps on hammer, lever latch, left side of frame and buttplate. Saddle ring bar and saddle ring. Walnut stock and fore-end. Faint cartouche on left side of wrist. Screw present on right side of frame signifying so-called fifth model. Sling mounts. Serialization indicates low number first model yet carbine is configured as a fourth or fifth model. Condition: Fair to good. Metal lightly polished, showing a mottled grey patina with areas of fine pitting and spotting overall. Stock and fore-end showing wear and numerous dents and bruises. Action good.
