    Composite Winchester Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 12501, .44 rimfire caliber, 20-inch barrel with standard sights. Nickel-plated finish. Saddle ring present. Walnut stock. Brass carbine buttplate with cleaning rod in reservoir. Serial number is on lower tang which is consistent with second model but 12501 is in the first model range. Upper tang slot of buttstock is stamped 5013. No serial number observed on left side of upper tang. See Flayderman 5K-029. Sold together in vintage brown leather scabbard with saddle loops. From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg. Condition: Good as refinished. Retaining approximately 20-30% of a period nickel finish, the balance a brown patina with fine pitting. Some frame and tang screws have been replaced. Stock good with wear and scattered dents. Action functions. Fair to good bore with light to moderate pitting.
