Description
Cased Deluxe Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle. Serial no. 11969. .45-70 caliber. 26-inch round barrel with full length magazine. Case-hardened action, lever and hammer. Fixed rear sight with two folding leaves. Checkered fore-end and pistolgrip stock of highly figured walnut .Shotgun butt with steel plate. Sold together with copy of factory letter confirming configuration and and original ship date of March 26, 1888. Modified and reshipped November 5, 1889.Condition: Fine. Barrel shows 90-95% finish. Action shows 40-50% muted case-hardening with small areas of vivid color present. Balance of metal shows a smooth grey-brown patina. Stock with light nicks, scratches and small areas with losses to the finish. Fore-end shows light nicks and scratches with some areas of wear to the finish. Bore shows frosting and some areas of very light pitting.
