    Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 18290, .38-56 WCF, 26-inch octagonal barrel with standard barrel address and markings. Open Elkhorn style rear sight. Blued with case-hardened frame, lever and hammer. Oil-stained walnut stocks. Crescent style buttplate. Manufactured in 1888. Research and quotes with the help of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. Total production approximately 159,994 between 1886-1935. According to Flayderman's, Model 1886's feature vertical locking bolts, visible when viewing the gun from top or bottom Note: This gun last sold at Greg Martin Auctions, Estate Arms Collections Sale, Featuring The Estate of Ira Yeager, June 6-7, 2004, Lot 169.

    Condition: Very good for this model. Approximately 25-35% thin bluing on barrel with the balance turning a plum brown with areas of pitting. Magazine with a brown mellow patina. A good 20-30% traces of case-hardening present to frame, lever and hammer with a silver toning and pitting patches. Stocks with some dents, bruising and mars, appears to have been cleaned or sanded at some point. Action good, bore good.
