J.H. Merrill Percussion Breechloading Saddle Ring Carbine.Serial no. 9293, .54 caliber, 21-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Lock marked: J.H. MERRILL BALTO. / PAT. JULY 1858. Saddle ring. Smooth hardwood stock with brass furniture and hinged patchbox.

Condition: Good. Finish a smooth grey patina with heavy signs of wear and surface rust. Fore-end barrel band absent. Noticeable dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
