Description
Indian Tacked Sharps New Model Carbine with Letter from a Flathead Indian.Serial no. C12155 [upper tang], .50 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding ladder sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Metal carbine butt. Various decorative brass tacks. Sold along with typed letter signed reading: TO WHOM IT MAY CAONCERN: I purchased on old Indian tacked Sharps Carbine Serial No. C12155 from Harvey Graves who is a Flathead Indian. He said that the gun was in an old shed for years out behind their house on the Flathead Reservation. Signed and dated 3-4-1978.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Noticeable bruises, scuffs and dings present to wood. Crack to right side of fore-end. Some tacks are absent, three loose ones are included with the lot. Action functions. Moderately pitted bore.
