Confederate Richmond Percussion Rifled Musket, Bayonet and Sling.
NVSN. .58 caliber. 40-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and flip-up leaf rear sights. Tinned finish. Lock dated "1862" behind the hammer and marked "C.S. / RICHMOND, VA." forward of the hammer. Straight walnut with three barrel bands and metal buttplate. Ramrod. Two sling loops. Sold with what appears to be the original Confederate manufactured socket bayonet. The bayonet fits perfectly with a 3-inch socket with an interior diameter of near 19mm (3/4-inches), outside diameter 23.7mm (7/8-inches), the triangular blade measuring approximately 15 ½-inches, 18 ½-inches overall. Fitted with a correct, original Confederate leather mounted linen rifle sling. The weapon is correct and original in every respect.

Condition: Excellent. Retaining approximately 40% of the old tinned finish, the balance generally clean and light gray with just some minor salt and peppering, most notably at the juncture of the barrel and fore stock, and at the breech. Mechanically perfect, excellent bore. Furniture excellent with just some minor scattered dents and an old, thin coat of varnish. Overall a very sharp gun and a superior condition primary Confederate long arm and one of the finest specimens we've ever offered. The bayonet and sling are also in excellent condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
