Blued finish with Fancy American walnut high gloss Monte Carlo pistolgrip stock with floral engraving with abalone leave inlays. Left side of action marked: WEATHERBY / SOUTH GATE CALIF. Floorplate lightly engraved and marked: WEATHERBY CUSTOM. Together with telescopic sight marked: WEATHERBY IMPERIAL 4 x 87. Brass diamond insert under stock marked: GEO REEDY. Sling eyes. Ventilated side wall recoil pad by Weatherby. Accompanying this gun is documentation and literature pertaining to the gift to Geo. Reedy from President Johnson as follows; Factory letter dated January 14, 1998 from Weatherby states this guns configuration and original ship date to Oshmans Sporting Goods on December 31, 1955. Letter of Authenticity from George Reedy dated 4-24-98 attesting: I, GEORGE REEDY, FORMER PRESS SECRETARY AND SECRETARY TO THE PRESIDENT, LYNDON B. JOHNSON, WAS THE OWNER OF THIS / WEATHERBY F.N. MAUSER DELUXE RIFLE SN# 4337......THIS FINE RIFLE WAS GIVEN TO ME AS A GIFT FROM LYNDON B. JOHNSON, WHO HAD IT RETURNED TO THE WEATHERBY FACTORY FOR CUSTOM STOCK ENGRAVING AND MY NAME GEO. REEDY ENGRAVED ON IT. Signed and notarized by Reedy and a witness. Photocopies of Internet articles from Reedy and Johnson. Wikipedia printout of Reedy. 2 LBJ FOR THE USA campaign buttons. Customized leather long gun bag with GEORGE REEDY in Gold lettering. Books titled: The Twilight of the Presidency by George E. Reedy [paperback]. The U.S. Senate by George Reedy [hardbound, with aftermarket writing]. Taking Charge by Michael R. Beschloss [hardbound]. The Presidency, Arno Press [hardbound].

    Condition: Very good to fine as configured. Retaining most of finish, fine scratches to barrel near muzzle. Slight wear to muzzle, bolt and floorplate. Stock in very good condition as configured with minimal wear. Optics clear. Scope cover with moderate wear and cracking. Action good. Bore good. Authentication letters laminated. Leather bag in good condition with normal wear. Books with normal wear, scuffs to corners and slight separations, otherwise fine.
