U.S. Springfield Model 1899 Krag Bolt Action Carbine.
Serial no. 157544. .30-40 Krag. 21.5-inch barrel (slightly shortened) with later fixed front sights and a Williams peep sight base, lacking the sight itself. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 157544". The carbine is equipped with the headless cocking piece normally found of Model 1899 carbines. The walnut stock appears to have been originally for an 1896 or 1898 carbine as there is a swivel ring base inlet, now plugged. No visible cartouches. Lacks hand guard. Metal buttplate with trap door for the cleaning rod. Two later sling swivels have been added, one on the underside of the butt; the other near the front barrel band.

Condition. Good as modified. Original blue worn to a smooth gray/brown patina. Stock has been sanded and varnished. Bore grey and moderately worn. Mechanically sound condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
