Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 154081. .30-40 Krag. 24-inch barrel, beveled at the muzzle, with fixed front sight and Marbles rear sight. One of the original rear sight base holes is visible on top of the barrel. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 154081". The original stock has been heavily modified to reflect a more commercial style stock. The original inspector's cartouche "JLS / 1906" is present on the left side of the stock. Metal buttplate with trap door for the cleaning rod.

    Condition: Fair. The original bluing is worn thin and has taken on a smooth gray patina. Traces of the case color remain on the receiver. Lacking the front barrel band. Stock modified as described with scattered abrasions, scratches and scuffs. Bright bore with some scattered pitting. Mechanically sound.
