    U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 193695. ..30-40 Krag. 30-inch barrel with fixed front sight base (lacking post) and Model 1896 rear sight. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 193695". Walnut stock and hand guard. Faint circle "P" firing proof and with a faint "JLA / 1899" inspector's cartouche. Metal buttplate with trap door for the cleaning rod.

    Condition: Good. Original bluing thin with an overall smooth brown patina. Traces of case color on the receiver. Lacking magazine cutoff. Stock showing light wear with the usual scratches, scuffs and abrasions. Bright bore with modest wear. Mechanically sound.
