    Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 258674. .30-40 Krag. 30-inch barrel with fixed front sight and Model 1902 rear sight. Metal parts blue; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 258674". Walnut stock and hand guard. Stock marked with circle "P" firing proof and "JLA / 1903" inspector's cartouche. Metal buttplate with trap door for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Good. Blued finish worn to a smooth brown patina with traces of case color on the receiver. A former owner has scratched "AL25D" on the top of the barrel and again on the side of the stock near the rear barrel band. There is a crack in the wrist extending from the rear of the trigger guard and a small brass tack has been used underneath the wrist to add support. The stock has the usual light scratches and small dents. Nice bore and in sound working condition.
