    Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle Shortened to Carbine Length.
    Serial no. 145213. .30-40 Krag. 22.5-inch barrel with fixed front sight and Model 1901 rear sight. Metal parts blue; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 145213. Walnut stock crudely shortened to carbine length. No hand guard. Metal buttplate with trap door for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Fair. Blued parts worn thin to an overall smooth brown patina with traces of case colors on the receiver. Front band lacking sling swivel; rear sling assembly absent from underside of butt. Stock heavily sanded with signs of moderate to heavy usage. Bore generally bright with some wear to rifling and scattered pitting. Mechanically sound.
