    U.S. Springfield Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Carbine.
    Serial no. 118917. .30-40 Krag. 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight (blade marked "C") and Model 1902 rear sight (base marked "C"). Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 118917". This example equipped with a straight knurled cocking knob typically associated with Model 1899 carbines. Walnut stock and hand guard. No visible cartouches on the stock. Metal buttplate with trap door for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Very good. Retains approximately 85% finish on the barrel, worn thin at the muzzle and front sight. Receiver with a smooth gray patina. Stock with shallow dents and a few scattered light scratches. Barrel with some pitting but otherwise in very good condition. Mechanically sound.
