Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1892 Krag Bolt Action Rifle Converted to Model 1896 and Shortened to Carbine Length.
    Serial no. 209. .30-40 Krag. 25-inch crowned barrel with Model 1896 rear sight and post front sight. Metal parts blued; receiver case hardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / 1894 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 209". Walnut hand guard and stock with no visible cartouches, plugged cleaning rod slot. Shortened to carbine length. Metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Good. Light case color; bluing thin and worn. Bore grey with significantly worn rifling. Stock has been sanded and bears but few scratches or marks and has a small 1-inch surface crack on the left side of the butt near the buttplate. Appears to be a repair to the stock at the right side of the side plate. Mechanically sound.
