    Description

    U.S. Springfield Model 1882 Magazine Rifle, Chaffee-Reese Bolt Action Repeater. No visible serial number, .45-70 caliber, 28 7/8-inch round barrel with fixed front and sliding leaf-style rear sight. Blued finish. Walnut stock with two barrel bands. Marked U.S.-SPRINGFIELD-1884 on the left side of the breech and V/P/[eagle head] on the barrel. Condition: Good as repaired. Finish has worn to a smooth gray with some light pitting and spotting. Cartridge feed racks and spring elevator lacking. Wrist of stock has slight indentations but removing the trigger guard reveals no signs of repair. Forward portion of stock from the rear barrel band appears spliced on. Strong bore with moderate pitting.
