    Description

    U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 309547. .30-40 Krag. 30-inch barrel with fixed blade front sight and Model 1902 rear sight. Barrel blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 309547". Walnut stock and handguard. "JLA / 1901" inspector's cartouche on the left side of the stock; circle "P" on the underside of the wrist. Metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod. Accompanied by a leather sling marked "Rock Island Arsenal" and dated 1907.

    Condition: Very good. 75% blue remaining on barrel; traces of case color on receiver. Wood furniture with light surface scratches, light and deeper dents and general handling wear. Strong bore, excellent mechanical condition. Leather sling worn, but still sound.
