    U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 293555. .30-40 Krag. 30-inch barrel with fixed blade front sight and Model 1902 rear sight. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 293555." This example with a carbine bolt. Walnut stock and handguard. "JLA / 1900" inspector's cartouche; circle "P" proof on the underside of the wrist. Metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 85% finish which has a dull gray patina. Traces of case color on receiver. Fitted with carbine bolt, as mentioned. Lacking stacking ring. Stock with moderate shallow dents, abrasions and scratches. Bore a bit dark but the rifling remains strong. Excellent mechanical condition.
