    U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.
    Serial no. 266574. .30-40 Krag. 30-inch barrel with fixed blade front sight and Model 1902 rear sight. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 266574". Walnut stock and handguard. "JLA / 1902" inspector's cartouche on the left side of stock; circle "P" proof on the underside of wrist. Metal buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rod.

    Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 50% finish on the barrel which has taken on a brown patina; faint traces of case color on receiver. Wood furniture with moderate light surface scratches, shallow dents and scattered abrasions. Strong bore and in excellent mechanical condition.
