Description

    U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle Shortened to Carbine Length.
    Serial no. 321034. .30-40 Krag. 24-inch barrel with fixed blade front sight and Model 1896 rear sights. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked: "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 321034". Original walnut stock shortened to carbine length. No visible inspector's cartouche; faint circle "P" proof on the underside of the wrist. Serrated plastic buttplate (lower portion missing).

    Condition: Fair. Metal surfaces with an overall brown patina; receiver with mottled gray patina. Lacking front barrel band. Stock sanded to eliminate grasping grooves. Plastic buttplate lower section missing as noted. Bore dark with some light pitting, otherwise the rifling is strong. Mechanically sound.
