    Description

    U.S. Krag-Jorgensen Model 1896 Bolt Action Rifle. Serial no. 84372, .30-40 caliber, 24-inch round barrel with standard military sights. Blued finish. Straight walnut stock with grasping grooves, flat metal buttplate with rounded toe. Compartment in butt for cleaning rod. Two barrel bands with sling swivels (later modification). Accompanied by a leather military sling, 1902 dated bayonet and scabbard, and Mills-style web cartridge belt and brass "US" buckle.

    Condition: Very good as configured. Barrel and stock have been shortened. Retaining approximately 85-90% mottled finish exhibiting normal handling wear. Stock probably lightly sanded obscuring the cartouches. Rifling worn but bore remains clean and bright. Bayonet and belt are also in very good condition, the sling exhibiting moderate wear.
