Description

    Rare Experimental Bolt Action Rifle with Early Mauser Action on a 19th Century European Musket. No serial number visible, .69 cal., 38 3/8-inches barrel with standard military sights. Mfg'd in-the-white. Steel sideplates and straight bolt toggle, military proofs, varnished walnut stock, left side of buttstock marked with circular cartouche and numeral 237; right side with oval museum cartouche reading: Musee de L'Artrle. No cleaning rod present, with sling mounts. The World's first true Mauser rifle although the French chose to alter their 1840 and later muskets, rifles, etc. to modified Snyder B/L system, 'a la rabatigren' as it is sometimes called. A unique and early Mauser bolt action rifle.
    Condition: Very good to excellent with light wear overall. Wood with minor marks. Action good.
