    Serial no.: 1040. .30/06 Springfield. 25-inch barrel marked: Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond St. London with matted quarter rib with folding leaf marked 100. Ramped base with spear front sight and folding sight protector. Base of barrel marked: .30 USA 1906 cartridge. Blued Mauser Model 98 action with turned-up bolt handle with hole in knob. Flag safety marked: SAFE in gold. Folding peep sight mounted at rear. Single-stage trigger. Casehardened take-apart screw at front of floor plate. Casehardened grip-cap with trap containing spare front sight. Checkered pistolgrip stock of well-figured walnut with horn fore-end tip. Horn buttplate. Casehardened recoil bolt. Blued action base. Cheekpiece. Vacant silver oval. Sling eyes. Data: Proof: London, Nitro, 30, 2.50, Pull: 14 ½ inches. Leather trunk case with red baize interior and leather Maker's label. Information card with: 30/1906 USA Springfield cartridge 220 gr. bullet. Card with directions on dismantling and assembly. Tag with: Marcus Daly, Dream Island, Flat head Lake, Polsum, Montana. Accessories include cleaning rod, tube of Rifleine jelly, pull- through, disc spanner, solvent can and tow. Leather carry sling. Condition. Excellent, showing some use. Barrel and action show 94-96% bluing. Excellent bright bore. Floorplate show 96-98% bluing. Grip-cap shows vibrant case colors. Stock shows slight losses to finish and a number of nicks and scratches. Case in very good condition with scuffing to edges. Interior shows some slight losses and some staining. Labels show some aging. Gun is from the Marcus Daly family collection. Gun dates from 1928 and the Holland & Holland records show that the gun was ordered by Daly.
