    Martially Marked Third Model Dragoon

    U.S. Colt Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver.
    Serial no. 16387, .44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch part round barrel with address reading: ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-. The serial numbers match on loading lever, barrel lug, cylinder pin, frame, triggerguard and cylinder. Wedge has ??3?7 visible. Left side of frame with: COLTS/PATENT/U.S. Manufactured 1857. Brass trigger guard/ front strap. Steel backstrap and butt. Inspector initials visible on each side of front triggerbow. Walnut grips.

    Condition: Very good. Scant traces of finish in protected areas. The balance is a pleasing, smooth gray-brown patina with minor patches of very fine pitting at muzzle, lug and front of cylinder. Brass with somewhat bright patina, possibly lightly cleaned. Cylinder scene is largely gone, just faint traces. Serial number is sharp. Nipples showing remarkably little wear. Safety stops remain visible. Grips are likely replacements. Fine with scattered light scratches and dents, showing only minor shrinkage. Action is smooth.
