Smith & Wesson Second Model Schofield Single Action Revolver.Serial no. 5824 [butt and cylinder], .45 caliber, 7-inch ribbed barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Right side of barrel marked: SCHOFIELD'S PAT. JUNE 20TH 71. APR. 22ND 78. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer and trigger. E P stamped to base of barrel. Smooth walnut grip panels. Right one marked CW, the left marked JRJ / 1876. US stamped to butt. One of 5,285 manufactured on contract to U.S. Army.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 10-20% finish, the balance a light grey patina with noticeable handling wear and pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to grips. Action crisp. Strong bore.
