    Unproofed Colt Late London Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver. Serial no. 10688 [all matching including 0688 on lever and wedge], .31 percussion caliber, 6-inch octagonal barrel with 2-line London address with curly leaf finials. Right lower barrel flat crudely marked Mary W??. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer, lever and frame. Stagecoach hold up scene on 5-shot cylinder. Left side of frame marked Colt's Patent. Iron triggerguard and backstrap. Front trigger bow with inspector's V and triggerguard with inspector's M. Varnished select walnut one-piece grips. Lack of London proof marks suggest this gun was one of a few that were sent back to America after Colt closed his London facility in 1857. [see 1993 Wilson Book of Colt Firearms pg. 118] Manufactured 1856. Condition: Good. Retaining strong traces of blue primarily in protected areas the balance a thin gray-brown patina. Scattered fine scratches on barrel. Traces of case-hardening. Fine pitting to frame above gripstraps which has been cleaned to bare metal. Very strong cylinder scene. Grips very good with approximately 50-60% varnish remaining. Scattered dents and small losses to each toe. Action crisp.
