    Scarce Smith & Wesson 1st Model Revolver Gutta Percha Case.
    Scarce early case 7 7/8 x 4 1/8 x 1 3/8-inches. The lid features an embossed Smith & Wesson first model revolver with shields and floral scroll in each corner and with tiny revolvers used as upper and lower borders. It is lined with pressed burgundy velvet in the lid and faded rose colored velvet in the bottom with a gutta percha barrel rest and cartridge block to accommodate 56 cartridges. The bottom of the box features a matching border of tiny revolvers.

    Condition: Excellent. Three of the corners on the left side of the case are slightly chipped 5-inch hairline crack on the lower front. Bottom lining a bit faded and moderately soiled, the hammer rest is missing leaving a bullet shaped space; the top lining is bright with a couple of very small holes. A small amount of shrinkage on the front edge of the lid.
