Scarce Colt Pocket Model of Navy Caliber Revolver.

Serial no. 11414 [frame, barrel, triggerguard and butt, 1414 on cylinder], 36 caliber, 6 1/2-inch barrel, Top of barrel reads ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA. Left side of frame reads COLTS / PATENT. Marked 36 CAL left side of gripstrap as well. Originally blued finish with case-hardened frame. Sometimes referred to as Pocket Navy. Main feature and giveaway is the rebated cylinder. Faint cylinder roll scene of the stagecoach holdup present. One piece walnut grips. Originally silver plated brass triggerguard and backstrap. According to Flayderman's Guide, erroneously called the "Model of 1853" and in more recent times named the "Model 1862 Pocket Navy Revolver", and now correctly termed the "Pocket Model of Navy Caliber". This gun according to Flayderman's has always been among the scarcer of the Colt percussion revolvers. Also, exact production years undetermined, but sometime between 1863 and 1865 extending to approximately 1872.

Condition: Good for this particular model. Seldom seen. Mostly a dark brown finish with mottled patina [faint thinning bluing on protected areas] with overall pitting. Rebated cylinder with numerous dings, mars and scuffs. Loss to nipple area. Gun is somewhat loose overall including the cylinder and does not hold very well. Mechanically works depending on gun position, will need work and/or adjustment. Walnut grips with bruising and marks throughout, loss to heel area and some holes/dents. Bore ok, dark.
