    Rare & Fine Colt Model 1872 Open-Top Single Action Revolver Serial no. 3205, .44 caliber rimfire, 7 1/2-inch barrel with German silver front sight, single-line NewYork address and integral rear sight. Blued finish. Crisp roll-engraved naval scene on un-rebated cylinder. Front of cylinder stamped: T. Back of cylinder stamped: H. Loading gate stamped: 131. Case-hardened hammer, loading gate and frame. Two-line 1871-1872 patent dates on left side, forward portion of frame. Fire-blued trigger. Steel triggerguard and gripstrap assemblies. Factory varnished Army-size one-piece walnut grips. Manufactured 1871-1872. Total production, about 7,000 [see Flayderman, 5B-133]. Condition: Fine to excellent. Retaining approximately 40-50% original factory finish, primarily on barrel, cylinder and frame assemblies, showing scattered wear and patina overall. Light tracking line on cylinder. Some vibrant case-hardening remaining on hammer and frame. Grips retaining approximately 80-85% original finish now finely checked with age. Showing light wear and marks present. Action excellent.
