    Factory Engraved Merwin & Hulbert 1st Model Open Top Single Action Revolver. Serial no. 3880, .44 caliber, 7-inch barrel. Nickel-plated. Open top. Scoop flute cylinder with twist and pull cartridge ejection system. Rare full factory scroll and punch dot engraved with gold wash. Left side of frame with eagle and snake motif. Right side with bird-in-brush motif. Blued cylinder. Cylinder and frame under left grip panel are marked 2076. Gold-plated hammer and trigger. Mother-of-pearl grips. Lanyard ring. Condition: Very good as refinished. Retaining approximately 80-85% of an old re-nickel. Very strong gold wash present in floral engraving on barrel and frame. Scattered patches of fine pitting observed on frame, loading gate and barrel. Good suction remains. Release screw under frame a replacement. Lug screw appears altered. Cylinder retains 30-40% blue finish mostly in protected areas. Grips are fine with small gap in fit at top.
