    Description

    Authenticated by John Kopec.

Excellent, Unfired and Arsenal-Stored U.S. Colt Single Action Revolver Inspected by David F. Clark. Serial no. 71052, .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with Hartford address and D.F.C. near base pin. Blued finish. Case-hardened frame with three-line patent dates, U.S. stamp and D.F.C. inspector's initials above serial number. Cylinder marked: 1052, D.F.C. and P. Fine walnut grips with inspectors' cartouches and 1881 date. Sold together with a Letter of Authentication from John Kopec which states that the revolver appears unfired except for possible test firing. He suggests that this Colt was stored in a Michigan armory thus missing the 1893 recall. From the collection of William Delaplaine. Condition: Excellent. Retaining approximately 85-90% original finish with scattered light scratches and handling wear. Tracking line to cylinder. Slightly muted case colors. According to Kopec the ejector tube is an 1890s replacement with a "K" from inspector A. Kind. Kopec also observed that the base pin is a period replacement. Grips excellent with small dent on right grip panel near top of backstrap. Cartouche on right grip frame scarcely visible. Action crisp and tight.
