Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver Inscribed to Playwright David Mamet. Serial no. 57893SA, .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with single-line Hartford address. Blued and case-hardened finish. Gold band inlay at muzzle, double gold band inlays at breech and on cylinder. Frame elaborately scroll-engraved and with star burst and checkered panels along with beautiful figural bison head. Right side of frame with bison skull figural forward of grip panel. Backstrap with floral-shield motif and gold band inlay surrounding inscription reading: D. Mamet. Ivory grips.
    Condition: Excellent. Appears untouched.

David Mamet's Notes: Engraved by Jim Kelso, the buffalo in homage to my play "American Buffalo." Jim also gussied me up a third gen. Sheriff's Colt with factory Ivory grips which is the gun I carried for years in my trips through the back country of Vermont. I, a city boy considered it the backcountry, local folks would have more correctly called it a few hundred acres of given-up farmland or a lot of blowdown. But there were (and are) bear and catamount back there which was a good excuse for carrying the gun. This piece of Jim Kelso is beautiful, but I don't need it (as I am keeping the Sheriff's Colt til they pry my cold dead fingers, etc. I am giving the money to charity and there you have it).
