    Composite Colt Middle Third Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver. Serial no. 31048 [frame, cylinder, triggerguard and butt], .36 caliber, 7 ½-inch octagonal barrel with single-line New York address. Small triggerguard. Unserialized replacement barrel and loading lever assembly where wedge screw enters from left side. Left side of frame marked: Colts/ Patent. Brass triggerguard and gripstrap assembly. Research reveals that some firearms in this serial number range were issued to Company I, 3rd Michigan Volunteer Cavalry. Walnut grips. Condition: Fair to good as configured. Metal heavily polished to bright metal with scattered light marks overall. Front sight a replacement. Slight traces of silver finish remaining in protected areas of triggerguard assembly. Loading lever assembly and some screws replaced. Grips with wear and bruises. Action good.
