    Description

    Early Square Backed Triggerguard

Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver.
Serial no. 43111, .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with New York address. Manufactured 1855. Early model with square-back triggerguard. All visible numbers match including wedge and rammer. Blued finish. Brass frame. Smooth walnut grips.

Condition: Fine. Retaining approximately 70-80% original blue which has darkened with age into a very smooth deep blue-black patina. All frame screws are untouched. Address is very crisp. Cylinder scene is strong. Grips are also dark and excellent although slightly proud to frame. Grip screws showing tool marks. Patches of surface rust in cylinder notches. Action crisp. Bore is strong showing only minor pitting. This appears to be a classic attic find.
