Colt .45 Caliber Single Action Attributed to Texas Sheriff Dan Murrah of Schleicher County. **Gun Control Act Requirments Apply**
This revolver, serial number 211391, was manufactured in 1906, the year Murrah became sheriff. Perhaps it was a gift or purchase to celebrate his new office. The late collector who owned the gun purchased it from a descendent along with this cabinet photo, the same pose as in the only published photo of Murrah we have been able to locate. But no further provenance was included.

The gun has a 4.7" barrel and what appears to be the original hard rubber grips (the left grip is slightly more worn, as it would rub against the holster). Overall even dark gray patina, with moderate wear and a trace of pitting on the barrel. Action is crisp, bore dark and pitted. Included is a very nice holster and belt which came with the gun. From the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr. For more information on this estate, please view the article "An Antique Love Story".

Note: This firearm falls under the Federal Gun Control Act. Please see the information in the back of the catalog for Federal and State Regulations for Buyers to make sure you can bid on this lot.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
