    Cased Pair of English Proofed Colt 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolvers.
    Comprising: 1) Serial no. 240810 [matching], .31 caliber, 4-inch barrel marked NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Originally blued finish with case-hardened frame. Frame marked COLT'S PATENT. Stagecoach hold-up scene on cylinder. English proofmarks on both guns appear to be contemporary. Walnut grips. 2) Serial no. 228886 [matching], .31 caliber, 4-inch barrel marked NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Originally blued finish with case-hardened frame. Frame marked COLT'S PATENT. Stagecoach scene present on cylinder. Walnut grips. Guns contained in a fitted wooden case marked inside CHARLES PIPER / GUN & PISTOL MAKER / CAMBRIDGE. Accessories include; lead balls and bullets, 2 cap tins (one marked UMC), Colt marked dual cavity mold, nipple wrench/screwdriver and a James Dixon marked powder flask.
    Both guns manufactured in 1863.

    Condition: 1) Good to very good as configured. 15-20% of bluing and case-hardening overall. Barrel has been cleaned. Traces of silver plating. Scattered pitting. Grips very good with original varnish, some mars and light bruising. Action good. Bore ok. 2) Good as configured. Overall gray patina with scattered pitting and marks. Traces of silver plating. Grips are good with mars, scratches, dents and handling wear. Action needs adjusting and timing is off. Bore ok. The wooden case and accessories are very good overall with handling and storage wear. Interior with a few separations and tears.
