    Cased & Engraved Manhattan "Navy Type" Percussion Revolver.
    Serial no. 51246, .36 caliber, 6 1/2-inch octagonal barrel. Blued finish with brass triggerguard and backstrap. Walnut grips. Contemporary scroll-engraving throughout. Top of barrel reads MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK, NJ / PATENT MARCH 8, 1864. Lanyard ring stud. According to Flayderman's, considered Series IV based on the serial number and barrel address [see 5C-014]. Contained in associated English style case with contemporary accessories.

    Condition: Good to very good as refinished and configured. Retaining approximately 50-60% bright rebluing, with balance thinning out and flaking. Brass with age wear, heavy losses to butt. Contemporary engraving. Grips with revarnish and hairline cracks. Case interior, relined and in good condition. Overall case with numerous dings, cracks and scuffs, appears to be an original case. Missing loading lever latch. Accessories with age wear. Marred screws, Action good, bore needs cleaning.
