    Custom Engraved Colt Model 1911 Series 70 Semi-Automatic Pistol.
    Serial no. 70G35378, .45 caliber, 5-inch barrel. Profusely scroll-engraved with gold accents. Style of engraving very similar to patterns offered by Colt Custom Shop as shown on page 497 of "The Book of Colt Engraving" by Wilson. The gold inlays on the slide include a bust of George Washington, the Liberty Bell, Flying Eagle and the Bicentennial Logo. Gold inlaid borders to engraved areas. Trigger guard gold inlay reads: LIBERTY OR DEATH. Gold-plated trigger. Deep blue finish. Scrimshawed ivory grips set with 1.97ct. and .75ct. Diamonds, sapphires and rubies. Sold together with a copy of a letter from engraver Ray Viramontez stating that he engraved the gun beginning in February of 1970 and finished it in February of 1974. Also included in the sale is a copy of "The Book of Colt Firearms."
    Manufactured 1971.

    Condition: Excellent. Two sapphires absent.
