DescriptionColt Model 1911A1 Navy Contract Semi-Automatic Pistol.
Serial no. 714941, .45 caliber, 5-inch barrel marked: COLT 45 AUTO. Blued finish with gold-plated parts including hammer, trigger and backstrap. Extensively floral and scroll-engraved with stippled background. Top of slide marked: P in front of rear sight. Left side of slide with Rampant Colt and 5 date patent mark in panel with Hartford address. Right side of frame marked: UNITED STATES PROPERTY/M1911A1 U.S.ARMY/NO. 714941. This serial number is in the range manufactured in 1939 and shipped to the U.S. Navy depot in Sewalls, Virginia. Custom carved and checkered rosewood grips with wire inlay and gold grip screws.
Condition: Fine as custom engraved and refinished. Retaining nearly all of the re-done blue showing only minor handling wear. Bright bore.
