    It Never Failed Me.......

    Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver with Stacy H. Woody New York Illustrator Association.

    Serial no. 89186 [under barrel and inside grips on frame], 44 caliber, 8-inch octagonal barrel marked PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION NEW YORK U.S.A. / NEW MODEL. Blued finish with walnut grips marked with government inspector stamping [left grip cartouche]. Sub-Inspector marks present on frame, barrel and cylinder. Made between 1863-1875 according to Flayderman's Guide [5E-015]. Flayderman also states; The famous showman William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody carried a "New Model Army" c. 1866-mid 1870's for buffalo hunting and the Indian Wars and claimed "It never failed me"
    According to consignor notes; the serial number is within the range of numbers issued to Company A of the 13th Missouri Voluntary Cavalry, January of 1865. Consignor also adds that while checking for a serial number under the grips, he made this discovery; Right grip is marked [carved Stacy H. Wood / W. 1903. W.] and left grip is marked [carved S.H.W. / '03 (skull & bones carving) W. / W]. Research shows Stacy H. Woody [Stacy H. Wood, name variant] (1887 - 1942) was active and lived in New York. Stacy Woody was known / famous for Illustration. Contained in contemporary wooden box with blue lining.

    Condition: Very good to fine. Gun retains approximately 30-40% bluing with the balance thinning and generating a gray patina. Fine scratches and spots overall. Grips is very good condition [as configured with alteration inside], cartouche marking very good. Tracking line present. Action good, could use a little tuning. Bore very good.
