Remington 1858 44/40 Revolver, Modified for Wild West Show Use. This most interesting weapon was adapted to fire 410 shotgun shells! A longer cylinder has been incorporated, and the frame has been cut and lengthened to accommodate that cylinder. Interestingly, the bore has been copper plated, supporting the story that in performances the shells were filled with rock salt; the copper coating would help prevent the salt from corroding the bore. The digits "17" have been added to the original serial number 1068. The gun has a pleasing display presence, grading at least very good, with over 60% of the original nickel finish present. A unique Wild West show artifact.
