Cavalry Percussion Pistols and Epaulettes. Partial pair of epaulettes (one complete and the other lacks the metal extension plate and the brass "horseshoe" rim or border. Accompanied by a tag that indicates that are from the "Waul Collection" (Waul's Legion, an all-Texan unit under the command of Brig. General Thomas Neville Waul that fought at Vicksburg). Unfortunately, there is nothing concrete to link these epaulettes to any member of that group; however, the pair of .70 caliber percussion pistols included in this lot are stamped "Waul 2" and "Waul 15" on the underside of the wood frame. One pistol is marked "Mre Rle de Maubeuge" on the lock plate and "M&R" on the barrel plus a series of additional marks (engraved date 1822, wooden frame stamped "Mutzig 140-1"). The other pistol is stamped "P. J. Malherbe a Liege" on the lock plate and "2" on the barrel (some surface rust).
