    Description

Very Rare Iron Frame 2nd Model .36 Caliber Percussion Savage "Figure Eight" Revolver. Total production of only 100 guns. Although Flayderman lists a barrel length of 7 1/8", the barrel on this specimen is 6 7/8" and is absolutely unaltered. The top of the frame with crisp maker's marks but the frame has no visible serial number (a number "8" can be seen on a visible portion of the rammer assembly. The gun has standard walnut two piece grips. Barrel with sharp edges and traces of original blue, especially on the bottom flat where it has been protected by the rammer. Otherwise the gun shows smooth dark patina with just a few touches of salt and peppering. The grips with nice patina just showing slight wear. A few screw heads are slightly marred, minor. Tight crisp action, very good bore. Very nice example of this exceedingly rare American percussion revolver.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
