    U.S.Model 1842 Percussion Pistol by Henry Aston. .54 caliber smoothbore, 8 1/2-inch round barrel with brass blade front sight. Swivel type steel ramrod with button shaped head. Brass mountings. All metal parts finished bright except blued trigger. Lock plate stamped: MIDDTN/CONN./1847 behind hammer. Standard U.S./H. Aston markings forward of hammer. Upper tang dated 1848. Proof stampings on breech: US/GW/P. Condition: Very good to fine. Steel a fine gray patina with scattered patches of fine pitting and light scratches. Wood is fine retaining approximately 80-90% on an old revarnish. Action is tight.
